Product Reviews. MightyMuggs and Turdz Hardware.

    Lawrenzo has some connects over at Hasbro Toys and was able to get me (and a couple other artists) a chance to handle and custom paint one of their newest toys, the Mighty Mugg. It seems to be Hasbro's entrance to the exploding urban toy movement. It makes sense since it is after all Hasbro, however I do kind of think it takes away the underground/independent toy feel, but I guess it's not like Kidrobot is considered underground any longer.  

 The Mugg stands about 6 inches tall. It's a very powerful looking shape, with almost no front or back and no facial features. My only complaint would be that it's not vinyl, like a Dunny or even the Hasbro LilPony, it's plastic, which made it slightly more difficult to paint. ( I prefer to soften vinyl with a hairdryer and take apart to paint,so I was forced to keep my Mugg in one piece because I thought it wouldn't go back together)  On the up side it does say it comes from "100% recycled awesome goodness", and they are cheap like some others "mini" DIY's but with a little extra Mighty in the size.  

  They do have some production ones available and since I'm more of a Hip-Hop fan then comic book fan my favorite is the MF DOOM one.

  In the end, I was behind deadline, but enjoyed painting my Mighty Mugg. Cop some and have a Might Mugg painting party!  Here are some pics of my finished Mugg. Thanks Lo.

The next review is short but well worth your support. 

   I was lazy enough to rush out the door with a new deck and only 4 bolts holding it together, probably the laziest thing a skater could do. Within minutes my trucks were lose.  Luckily I was at the same park as the owner of  Turdz Hardware "Doo-doo colored nuts and bolts...The number 2 in hardware".  Turdz is the brainchild of manchild Alex Duke from ToiletTown.  My only complaint would be that if you ride risers your sh!t out of luck but I know Alex skates these things so they must be strong as hell (you saw him smash into wallrides in 2rooms1ramp !).  I fully support Turdz without ever riding them.  A local business with a true skateboarder running  it, selling nuts and bolts hand to hand with some humor and slight smell. Lose the risers and get with Turdz, maybe I will too.

Why wouldn't you buy your bolts from this loose nut?

It's still today?! DeJesus I'm tired.

Friday was a (sober) blur for me. It was one of those days where you do alot, don't rest a second, and when you think back you almost swear that it couldn't be just this morning you were at work. It was a strange feeling and it left me drained once I finally arrived to the Eric DeJesus opening at HB.

After work and a hour session at Saugy I clipped by Garys and was lucky enough to catch him on the grill. A burger and some rice later and I was racing my way over to TheHub to show some love and check out their current display of Photos. The photos were all amazing and the show runs till the 30th of July so stop by and see it yourself. Big up to Julian Sienzant, Amber Sovorsky,and Daniel Moyer.

I had to split theHub quick to get over to theBase. The room was buzzing with old stories and friends catching up, Ray was hosting, and The Artist was up and down a ladder most the night doing a live installation. Eric has some weird and wild pieces hanging along with his installation, you really have to go and see them to appreciate the depth and layers involved in them.
Great work that should run about a month. Stop in and see his recreation of the Trench in the window.

Happy Birthday, America.

I always love having people over, and it's been a couple years since we did the 4th, so it was perfect timing to start it back up again. I wish the weather could have been a little nicer and that some missing Homies could have been in town, but Adrienne's taco-dip and some burgers (or taco-dip AND burgers, as PO prefers) made for a great time.

The damp weather was forgotten when the crew realized the Arcade was up.
(maybe a monthly play-off ?)
