Cherry's Caribbean Palace. 4th street Bethlehem

A couple months back, Po treated some of the guys to a early holiday meal at Cherry's Caribbeans Palace. This isn't Secret Fatty, but I LOVE THE FOOD AT CHERRY'S. Her and her daughter(?) cook amazing home style Caribbean/soul food. I've eaten there a couple times and just typing this is making my mouth water thinking about the jerk season. Burns like hell, tastes like Heaven. Damn, I need to get back this week. I'll see you soon Cherry! Keep it spicy!

Photobucket

They knew we we're on our way and they were prepared! Fried chicks, jerk chicks (which I couldn't even get a flick of before it was gone) mac and cheese that made Kraft nervous, potato salad that you could have a picnic around, cornbread , and more. Yeah, Im going back this week.

Slippin back around to catch up.

I was slacking on my bloggin for a couple months now. I work retail as a main income and the holidaze kept me busy and slightly unmotivated. Not to say I wasn't creeping around, sometimes even WITH my camera. Im going to get back with it and try to keep posting, I love to see the hits and talk about the posts with anyone else that like to see'em. I also love looking at all the other local blogs, so why not join back in? Thanks for checking back, See you all soon.

Id like to start by giving some long waited coverage to Commeh and his art show at Homebase
Check out some flicks
HERE and HERE
I hope to eventually poach enough of those linked flicks to post on LVAN , which has not dissolved. We're still working and hope to offer you some exciting new events again this year.

Some catch up starting with an erotic art show featuring Lorna and Bee.

I think most of my friends must have been standing in front of this piece, because it was really standing out to me. Weird, right?

I forget what was jumpin off this weekend, I just know we were in the midst of a couple day binge. LI Crew and all. I know it wasnt the first day and I don't think this was the last day. Good times.

I don't know if it's the way I ask, or because I ask, but Brendan always seems like he's just tolerating me when I steal his soul.

You don't think I'm killing it without taking a crewshot? Killin it.
Photobucket

Speaking of killing it, There was a presentation of sorts about to get started. Live band, narrator that didn't bother pre-reading anything, oh yeah, and a human sacrifice as a act one finally. I could ONLY imagine what act 2 brought. We were OUT.
I wish I would have thought to get a screen grab of the text barrage that ensued the second the lights went out and the door was blocked. All of our phones lit up like christmas trees, and the masses were saved (if not briefly) from our wiseass remarks.
Photobucket

Then the sacrifice..yes that is a gimp beating her, and some kind of wizard dripping hot wax on her. No Biggs.

This is the clean up creep.

Getting FOCUSed Man. Luke Koch.

Photobucket

Luke Koch, Switch Ollie , Focus Mag Cover
When I first met Luke, I believe he was about 14 or 15, he kept to himself and skated (for some reason I'm remembering a helmet) around the Easton ghetto park. Over the years we have become very close, and I've watched Luke develop into a Powerhouse. Luke has the soul, passion, and drive of a true skateboarder. He is also a very opinionated man, and confident enough to stand behind it. Im proud to have Luke reppin' the 610.
Great shot Man, keep it up.

5th Homebase Halloween Skate Jam 2009

This year marked the 5th Homebase halloween skate jam. After a rain delay Saturday, the weather couldn't have been better for Sunday. The theme this year was the glorious 80's and the park was a ebay collectors dream of vintage skate goods, all of them being ridden like they were made for.
The events this year included a Lost Soul Jump Ramp Rampage, The $300 finals of the Saugy Showdown(with Kyle taking the dough), the Best Trick on the gap to picnic table, and the crowd favorite as well as the sure to be seen again, Downhill Race

Sketchy video clip here, and at bottom of post

The Downhill jam was my personal highlight of the day. The bridal path from the park to the lower lot is a fun way to leave. It's not the craziest hill bomb you can find, but the ruff ground, loose gravel, and leaves, make it challenging. Add in the 90 degree turn as it warms up and its a challenge. You already know it becomes style to not slow down.
In the sake of safety and fairness, heats were held instead of an all out death match. Fastest time received a bag a product. My camera failed before I could get the older guys raging it, but they could not resist a Old Man division and showed the younger guys how it's done. We stacked up at the corner and had a blast cheering and critiquing.

There was a Lost Soul Jump ramp jam. It was run super tight, Ray was in total control, it was timed, and the ramp was kept at the same place as kids tried to ollie out the park. Oh yeah, the ramp was of the best construction and easy to skate. Im pretty sure the winner got a snowboard and proceeded to have his own product toss. It was Epic, and that was serious.

They had Hecklers also

The kids lined up for the product grab. It was like when people put a bone on a dogs nose and try to make them sit still, the kids were rabid and the sponsors supplied.
